The Midget Version of Mr. T

Yeah, I already know someone is going to bite my head off for using the word "midget". Well, tough. I couldn't come up with a better word and "little person" does not suffice as an operable synonym for the sheer epic nature of this pic.

I have the tremendous idea of a tag team match between this little fellow and Mr. T versus Dr. Evil and Mini Me. In my opinion, it would be a great battle. It would include boxing, high flying maneuvers and gizmos. There'd also be a lot of attitude thrown into the mix.

Having a miniature version of Mr. T is genius. I don't know whose idea it is, but he deserves to win a Nobel prize. And if it was just God having a little fun with us, then God we got to send that Nobel prize to heaven.

Comic Strips Created by Alcoholics Anonymous

Between 1968-1974, Alocholics Anonymous created a collection of 95 comic strips with a style reminiscent of Dan DeCarlo. In the first set of comics, we follow the story of Alice, a wife who turns to drink to deal with her absentee husband. And while much of the dialogue is quite melodramatic, these comics do not fail to intrigue.

At the top of the comic, you will see this was endorsed by Al-Anon. Make no mistake, Alcoholics Anonymous also propagated them.

There is some discussion on whether or not these are Alcoholics Anonymous items, or solely belong to Al-Anon. The answer is they are both. "It Happened to Alice" and "What Happened to Joe" originally appeared in the late 60s stamped as "A.A. General Service Conference — Approved" literature and were attributed to "Alcoholics Anonymous World Services" - "If Your Parents Drink Too Much" is also attributed to Alateen, the A.A. for teenagers. Of the four storylines, only "Jane's Husband Drinks Too Much" is independently "Al-Anon Conference Approved". Al-Anon is the support group for family members of alcoholics and is a direct organizational offshoot of Alcoholics Anonymous - Ethan

More Slowed Down Chipmunk Songs

David Cassel of 10 Zen Monkeys emailed me today to tell me that more slowed down songs of The Chipmunks have been discovered.

I saw a link to your article about the slowed-down Chipmunk Christmas mashup, and thought you'd appreciate this story. Apparently "Alvin & the Chipmunks" career included dark detours.

Thanks for the heads up, David! Let me add my opinion that The Chipmunks career, at the moment, still qualifies as a "dark detour". Rumour has it that a computer-rendered/live action movie is in the works. Such a setup has never worked save for Who Killed Roger Rabbit when much of the success owed itself to the sheer novelty factor.

As for the songs, we have David Seville's (a.k.a. Ross Bagdadsarian) voice triple-tracked, first at regular speed, then slowed down. Here's another one of him performing as all three Chipmunks. Finally, we also have the scat-singing imitation Nutty Squirrels. If you slow the song down, you can hear the distinct voice of jazzman Don Elliot.
