"The Force is a Tool of Satan", Say Star Wars Protesters

Now, before all of you get up in arms about this, let me state what may not be so obvious. This is a prank. Mind you, this is an effective prank precisely because such protests are everyday occurrences. The extreme religious fringe will protest anything and everything. My guess is that someday they will protest gravity too.

The greater story here is that the pranksters are using this protest as a means to sell t-shirts and posters. One of the posters say, "R2-DEMON-2 is a FALSE God". From a business perspective, this is brilliant. Trolling Star Wars fans and Jesus fans is a surefire way to get one's coffee mugs sold.

Not everyone is happy about it, though. Jack, a devout Christian, believes these pranksters are provoked merely by cynicism.

Your are 'trolls', just not in a virtual community.

I will pray for all of you, and that you will regain your faith in our lord soon, and not continue to solely use him as a launchpad for your cause.

My own opinion is that this is very funny. Andy Kaufmann himself would approve. I don't think they went far enough, though. These fellows need to go the Fred Phelps route and boycott Blockbuster, write hymns, and harass convention goers. And they should make a bold point about how God Hates Star Wars!

Buttered Floors Create Pain

I feel guilty about laughing at this. This could have ended wrong for so many reasons. The prankster is lucky his roommate never broke his legs — or worse. But it is still funny — simply because it happens again and again. The roommate never learns to watch his step. His murderous rage at the end of the video is the piece de resistance.

Still, the guy who buttered the floors is a dick. He is extremely lucky this didn't end up in a lawsuit. Perhaps it would have been best for him to have been brought to court. I mean, he's bragging about what he did with this video. Maybe getting money removed from his pocket would have taught him an important lesson.

My moral qualms aside, I laugh every time I see this. I feel guilty every sin

TV-B-Gone: The Universal Remote for Turning Off Any Television

File this under "I wish I thought of that". TV-B-Gone is an idea so absolutely simple I feel a sense of shame I didn't patent the idea. All you have to do is point it at any television, and it will turn off.

This makes for a stellar prank and I remember a Mr. Steve Wozniak who invented a device similar to this. If my memory proves me correct, I recall he invented it before the advent of the universal remote (which he also pioneered too). Hide one of these puppies in your pocket and which the social chaos that happens.

They do make a good point, though, about why television shouldn't be watched.

Q. Why would one want to live without TV?

A. Because watching TV takes time, and time is precious. There are so many things to do that are fun, healthy, relaxing, and good for your social life! Some people find themselves watching TV when they don't really want to. Have you ever found yourself doing this?

Yeah, there's nothing good to watch on television. When I had more than basic cable, I really enjoyed the Comedy Network and the Discovery Channel, but now I just turn it on so I could have some noise. But I could live without it.

The Most Amazing Light Bulb Ever

Previously, I had posted pictures of the history of the light bulb, but nothing compares to what you see above. As you can probably tell, the cap on the left is a dummy. Its purpose is purely as a means to further the optical illusion you see on the right side of the picture.

One of the other amusing aspects of this light bulb is installation as one tries to figure out which end goes into the socket. I can picture the hours of frustration as some poor sap tries to figure why — just why — his newly bought light bulb won't turn on.

Finally, if I was ever to curate a surrealist exhibit, I would use lighting from this light bulb. You'll probably agree it is perfect for such a project.
