Scarf Coloured By Human Blood

Please note the intravenous device coming out of the wearer's hand and filling the scarf with blood. I believe it's an attempt to keep one warm through one's blood by simultaneously being drained of blood. Indeed, it is quite paradoxical.

Of course, I'm more interested in the product itself. Why not use blood as a colourant? Many could argue that the blood could go to better use such as giving it to a blood bank. Maybe so, but I think using blood as an ingredient in clothing makes it somehow more personal. Call me crazy.

Mind you, I'm not so fascinated with having a scarf coloured by some stranger's blood. I'd rather have it either be my own blood or a loved one's blood — for one's blood is also one's lfe. There is always a subtle beauty in a craft when blood is involved.

Again, call me crazy.

I think a line from Richard Pryor's stand up routine where Dracula meets a black wino is appropo:

"You wanna suck what??? Muthafucka bettah get your ass to a blood bank.., Hope you get sickle cell...,"
